Are you looking to continue your rehabilitative treatment while practicing physical distancing and self-isolating?
Good news! pt Health now offers virtual physiotherapy, giving you the opportunity to receive treatment from the comfort of your own home through video conference technology.
Wondering how virtual physiotherapy works? In this Spotlight, we’ll share some first hand information from one of our physiotherapists with you.
Christina Connolly, Physiotherapist at Russell Lake Physiotherapy – pt Health, has been offering virtual physiotherapy for the past few weeks.
Today, we’re talking to Christina about her experience with this new service so far.
Q: Tell us about the type of treatments you can provide through virtual physiotherapy.
A: Through virtual physiotherapy I am able to provide assessments and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions through education, exercise prescription, and product recommendation. I’m also able to provide assessments and treatment of post concussion conditions.
Q: What has the patient experience been like with virtual care?
A: The patient experience has been more than positive. With the quick switch we had to make to virtual care, there was initial apprehension both on the patient and therapist end.
However, just minutes into my first session, all apprehension was erased. I immediately realized that I was going to be able to help my patients through virtual physiotherapy and my patients shared that feeling. They were confident that virtual care can help them.
Q: Can you share your favourite story of how you helped a patient with virtual care?
A: Over the past two weeks, we have been doing virtual care and I have seen a wide range of improvement in my patients. They have regained mobility, had a reduction in pain intensity, and have been able to get back to the tasks of every day life again.
To see the smiles back on the faces of my patients because of the improvements we have made is the ultimate goal we have for our patients.
